Vision & Values...

At Jar of Stars we believe the potential of every young person is limitless. Each of us has the talent, ambition and belief to succeed, but all too often we do not know how to unlock the jar and let our talents shine.

Our Vision is that every young person who experiences our workshops or individual coaching sessions leaves the process with:

  • Clear choices
  • A sense of empowerment
  • Knowledge that they choose the direction their own journey will take
  • Resilience to manage change and stress in future situations

Momentum Workshops

Momentum is a programme designed to enable vulnerable young people to improve self-esteem, recognise areas for change and provide them with the tools to do so. It is an inspiring programme which allows young people to feel they have control over their own lives rather than be at the mercy of their circumstances.

“It’s your road and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.”

From the Blog...

It all began with a mouse.

I love Disney World: the place where anything is possible. Princesses adorn every street; characters come to life and fireworks explode, celebrating the fact you have made it to the land of dreams. Throughout the parks there are quotations painted on the side of walls from Walt Disney himself, like: “All our dreams […]

Maths; we meet again!

I am not good at Maths. I have never been able to calculate sums correctly. I could never do a job involving numbers. I have always struggled with getting sums right…   Feel free to substitute maths for “science” or “presentations” or “being on time”. Do any of these phrases sound familiar? We learn these […]

Take Control

“Incredible change happens in your life when you decide to take control of what you do have power over instead of craving control over what you don”t.” ― Steve Maraboli, Life, the Truth, and Being Free To feel powerless, or that we lack control over our lives, can be a terrible, frustrating and […]

Balancing Act

Balancing Act Why do so many of us find it difficult to find a balance in our lives? My personal plate spinning involves; parenting, teaching, coaching, exercising, cleaning, shopping…you get the idea. Often dissatisfaction and frustration comes when the balance is wrong. We drop some “plates” and get upset because it feels like […]

The Wandering Star

When education equals ambition, we will be left with a young workforce the equal of any in the world. I have worked in education for the past fifteen years, as an English Teacher, Raising Attainment mentor and Social Inclusion teacher. It is clear to anyone who can see that our young people lacked the self […]

What the Clients Say...

  •   Daniel attended the Momentum workshops for about 12 weeks with other pupils who had been “looked after” during their lives by people other than their parents. There were approximately 10 young people in each workshop and over the weeks the group bonded, shared their experiences and discussed the progress they had each made with […]

  • It is my firm professional and personal opinion that Lesley is an outstanding professional and practitioner whose work in this area is of immeasurable benefit.

  • I would thoroughly recommend her programme to anyone who is trying to build the confidence of young people in preparation for their futures.

  • I was made aware of Lesley’s strategies initially when I had individual coaching sessions that helped with my personal and professional goals. It was such a positive experience

  • I cannot think of anything that would develop and nurture the four capacities of The Curriculum for Excellence more than the coaching techniques I have learned from Lesley.

  • Lesley is an inspirational and truly motivating teacher whose innovative style has helped me and many pupils over the years.
